Travel

If you haven’t been here to visit, you’re in for a treat.  We live in Niantic, Connecticut which is on the southeastern shore of Connecticut.  We are about 2 ½ hours from New York, 2 hours from Boston and 30 minutes to Mystic and the Rhode Island border.  The reception is in Waterford, Connecticut which is in the town next to ours, about 15 minutes from hour house.

BY AIR

You can fly into Providence, RI (PVD) or Hartford, CT (BDL).   Hartford is about 1 1/2 hours from our house and Providence is about an hour.  Either airport is ok to use, so choose the flight that has the best schedule/price for you.  Most of the major airlines fly into both airports.  When you leave Connecticut, we suggest allowing a minimum of 1 ¼ hours in the airport – small airports sometimes have big lines for security since their staff is not large.

There are not any public transportation options to get to our area.  Taxis will be very expensive.  It is best to rent a car, as you will need one when you are here.

DIRECTIONS FROM PROVIDENCE

BY TRAIN

The closest Amtrak stop is Old Saybrook (about 20 minutes from our house).  Trains run frequently from New York and Boston.  You get the best fare by booking early and use AAA for a discount.

From New York, you can also take the commuter trains:  Metro North from Grand Central Station to New Haven and Shoreline East from New Haven to Old Saybrook.  This option is a lot less expensive but can take longer.  Also, Shoreline East has a limited schedule so you’ll need to plan in advance.

There is not regular taxi service at the train station.  Best to check with us and we’ll figure out how to get you here from the station.
